The Social Welfare Department is ready to take temporary care of a girl believed to have been raped by her mother’s boyfriend last year.

Women, Family, and Community Development Minister Nancy Shukri said this is to ensure the child’s welfare and safety, should there be no suitable or capable family member to care for her.
