Umno must review ties with DAP, says supreme council member
Umno Supreme Council member Isham Jalil has proposed the party review its ties with the DAP as a current ally in the government with Pakatan Harapan.
Isham, who also identified two other reasons for Umno's drubbing in the six state elections, said the party's move to accept working with the DAP remains a sensitive issue.
"About the DAP, I have previously said this...
Do not be a. coward. A gurkha soldier says: " Better die than be a coward. " British General loves NEPALESE SOLDIERS for their FIERCELESSNESS THEY DARE. TO. DIE FOR YOU!
Looks like non of the comments favoured you. I think it is best you shut your mouth.
Isham is totally off. If BN stayed out of this elections, I think PH would have done much better. UMNO/BN should bear in mind that it is PH that is keeping them afloat at this time with good governance. Without BN hanging over their heads, PH would have already outshone previous administrations in various parameters. Also, is Isham so arrogant to think that if UMNO/BN leaves, the Borneo parties will follow? PH + Borneo parties still have majority in Parliament in the worst case scenario. So BN could end up quitting at its own risk. UMNO needs to do some soul searching for sure, but not through folks like Isham. Do a proper survey, poll data and undertake research. There can be so many reasons why UMNO faltered. First, this is just a continuing effect of PN propaganda, taking advantage of inflation and a new government who is taking time to come up with the right policies. Or painting themselves as saints vs corrupted BN. Take your pick. With good governance, the propaganda will eventually wear off. Second, it could be UMNO grassroots need to be engaged to cooperate with PH, like how it had worked for NS. Third, it could be a Zahid problem, losing thevotes of independent Malay voters. In any of these scenarios, Najib is a non-factor. His was not a political prosecution. He is a klepto. Period. UMNO giving its grassroots false hopes is wrong. They need to move on. If their heads are still stuck in the sand, and say they decide to trigger anti-hopping law and take their chances with by elections, they will be wiped out. This PRN is a watershed moment for Malaysia politics, and I dare say in a good way. This is as good as PN is going to get. They know they are going downhill from here on because the longer the UG survives, the longer they can put together effective policies. Folks like Isham should stop their knee jerk reactions.
