Better pay, less stress: Zuraida tells youth to work in plantations

PARLIAMENT | Plantation Industries and Commodities Minister Zuraida Kamaruddin has encouraged local youth to switch to the plantation sector as it has better income and lower stress compared to working in the city.

Zuraida said this in reply to an additional question from Sim Tze Tzin (Pakatan Harapan-Bayan Baru) in the Dewan Rakyat today regarding the government’s policy on the recruitment of foreign workers in the plantation sector.

      She said the ministry is...

This lady Minister is not even fit to look after a Zoo! After years of sloganeering and cheering, these politicians should realise that those message are lost and never workable. The GLC's esp those owned by PNB's have for years neglected the welfare, future and economic standing of Indian labourers in plantations resulting in a very skewed and marginalised society trying to make a presence in Malaysian mosaci life. No housing, adequate retirement funds and lack of mainstream education had left these Indians in doldrums and they shun n refuse even to consider plantations. Malys are happy in their FELDA's and kampungs whilst Chinese will never set foot for hard work! Try better, like the ones given to PDRM, Armed forces, Customs and civil servants generally- ie promised land n house ownership, better EPF, transport to schooling, promised scholarships for 1st post tertiary qualification, access to health etc, all of which will be an attraction to Malaysians of lower income to be tempted for such a job
