It’s been this way for 6 decades. No failure on the part of any government department can be revealed. It’s a culture of coverups that finally led to the 1MDB debacle. Now, we are witnessing the same thing on a scale never felt before in our hospitals. Funds were diverted from the MoH in previous budgets and patients had to buy their own medications. That’s what we know of. But we don’t know how much money was slashed for equipment and upgrading of infrastructure. It’s a systemic failure from top to bottom. And it’s been an accident waiting to happen. And the A & E Departments are ill equipped to cope.
