I concur with the climate emergency call that you make. But I'm afraid your plea will fall on very deaf ears as far as the PN regime goes, because it's a thoroughly capitalist regime driven by pure greed and on much of the population of Malaysia if you look at their everyday waste disposal habits plus the habits of businesses. But that doesn't mean educating the people -- because you'll almost surely fail with all of the regime and most of the business community -- isn't the first big and important step to take in mitigating the effects of climate change. In the islands of the South Pacific the awareness is very real but it may be too late for most of the islanders. Papua New Guinea is waking up to it now but when foreign logging companies have more or less raped PNG of its natural forests, as in the Amazon in Brazil, it's a tough fight against the global capitalist class, especially as most laws and regulation regimes are stacked against global climate change NGOs. Go have a look at the open drains in front of homes throughout Malaysia. What do you see? Changes in everyday human behaviour on disposing household waste through education will be a pretty good place to start the campaign to reverse the trend before we really screw up the planet beyond repair. It's a never-winning battle against ignorance and the saya tidak peduli mentality.
