Slim polls: Mahathir names syariah lawyer as candidate

SLIM POLLS | Syariah lawyer Amir Khusyairi Mohamad Tanusi has been named by former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad as the candidate who will take on Umno's acting Tanjung Malim division chief Mohd Zaidi Aziz in the forthcoming Slim by-election.

Mahathir said Amir Khusyairi will contest as an independent candidate, but is, in fact, representing Mahathir's newly unveiled Parti Pejuang Tanah Air.

"We would like to start by introducing a candidate for Slim. Since we have yet to register our party, we will refer to him as an independent candidate...
