After claiming assault, Wan Ji being probed for defamation

Police are probing preacher Wan Ji Wan Hussin for defamation after he claimed that he was beaten up by jail wardens.

Selangor CID head Fadzil Ahmad confirmed that prison authorities have lodged a report against Wan Ji and the matter was being investigated under Section 500 of the Penal Code.

He also confirmed that the police were applying Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998.

Wan Ji was jailed on July 9 following his unsuccessful appeal against a conviction for sedition, where he was accused of insulting the Selangor ruler Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah...
