Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad has appealed for patience from those questioning whether the government will cancel the RM81 billion East Coast Rail Link (ECRL) project.

He assured that Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng would make an announcement on Pakatan Harapan’s final decision, but did not say when this would be done...

Obviously it is a simple cancellation of the ECRL.  There must be some leeway made during the negotiation ie to continue at a certain cost or conditions or maybe China to buy more palm oil from Malaysia

Frist Azmin jumped the gun and made the announcement giving the impression that he is Tun's right hand man.  When LGE came out with his shocked statement that a decision has not been made yet, AA seems to realised he had shot himself in the foot and tried to gain cookie points by saying that Tun should remain as life-long premier.  Such devious mind and fork tongued person does not deserve to be our future premier.  I will always prefer the direct talking, no holds barred RR anytime.

“But people notice (them) very much because this is a new government,” he quipped. - i like this. You have my respect. I think so far only Tun able to manage and solve all these problems due to his world of experience. Imagine without him i think LGE and Azmin probably enter UFC and punch each other til KO. But still both were wrong in the first place, though Azmin should be largely blamed for making the announcement much earlier and not under his purview with the intention to steal the show from LGE. LGE was wrong to go to the press to express his unhappiness. I'm convinced now that Azmin is good in main pintu belakang to gain credit and achieve his goal, just like how he became Selangor MB during Langkah Kajang. He is too cunning to be our future PM.

There must be free discussion at cabinet meetings but members are not at liberty to expose the points raised or the rationale for any decision prematurely before announcement by the minister concerned.

Azmin jump the gun..trying to portray an image he is incharge? Most likely so..it is better he focus on GLCs n how to comfort the Malays psyche...leave such works to the PM & FM.

Just out of curiosity, are decisions made collectively. Or does Mahathir decide and the rest just tow in line?

Azmin should not steal the “show” and beat the gun . The announcement will be made by Finance Minister and NOT by you . Don’t overstep the authority of the Finance Minister or PM . Don’t be power crazy ?You will be an ordinary MP when Anwar Ibrahim take over the premiership from Tun Mahathir.

Guan Eng, be wary of the racist old fox with twisted tongue! He will make use of you and your talent, and he can also use you to destroy DAP.... Tread wisely and cautiously with racists and hypocrites....they are two sides of the same coin

Two elderly women were trampled and died when a big crowd rushed for free food coupons at  ICC Pudu indoor market today. What are the Finance and Economic ministers doing to address increasing poverty and hunger under the PH government ? PH did away with BN's BRIM for B40 . Today PH  through Health minister announced some form of Bantuan Rakyat. Too little , too late  for the two elderly women who died today.

Azmin given his experience and his present status should be cautious and get his facts right before he issues categorical statements that are later contrdicted  He should not leave some of his strong supporters with a suspicion that he is either overreaching himself or has reached a level of incompetence at his senior position.  Mahathir is already hard present , it seems, to get a competent team of government leaders effectively operational in their roles. Malaysians  are already forming and opinion ( not judgmental yet) as to who are performing well and those who are fumbling along.

You know, I’m just guessing what if Tun and DSAI’s relationship has actually mended and all this creation of economic portfolio, etc is just to see how far AA would push his ambition? His sensibility and loyalty is being tested and just maybe he’s just proven he cannot be trusted by being a prima donna.

Looks like LGE's role has not only been reduced to  that of a book keeper, he is also Dr M's spokesman. If Dr M makes a bad decision, LGE will take the blame because it would appear the decision came from MOF. Same goes with the laughable "economic affairs" ministry..if it does something stupid, the minister of finance (ie. LGE) will be tasked with making the announcement & face the brick bats although he may not actually be involved in making "economic" decisions. What now, DAP?

Looks like Dr M has tasked FM Lim with handling and announcing the ECRL negotiation. Where does Azmin come in?He seems to want to show like he is in charge and the Government spokesman. He seems to try to impress his PKR supporters that he is Dr Mahathir’s right hand man. Now, we can understand Anwar’s concern about this man.
