It is time Dr M differentiates Jews from Zionists
COMMENT | At the outset, let me make it clear that as far as the Palestinian cause is concerned, I am on the same page as Dr Mahathir Mohamad, although I cannot vouch for his consistency on all the other non-Muslim liberation causes in the rest of the world.
What is disturbing is that through the years, we have witnessed Mahathir’s deliberate refusal to make any distinction between the Jewish people and the ideology of Zionism. This has huge consequences for how our prime minister stands on racism and racial discrimination in our own country...
In any deal, compromises are inevitable. You give some, you take some. The other Party gives some and takes some.In the Middle East , for example, BOTH Israelis and Palestinians must give some; and take some.. Otherwise, there will NEVER be peace. In BREXIT, there is a huge debate in UK Parliament; and there is equally a huge debate in the EU (which consists of 27 nations !) Among UK Parliamentarians there are diverse views on how the BREXIT deal could be done. In the EU, there are also diverse views on the same subject. It is IMPOSSIBLE to satisfy all parties on all issues. They must agree to give some and take some. In the Malaysia-Singapore tussle, there are problems; and they can only be resolved by compromises ( give-and-take ). But on the Water Agreement, is it possible to reverse it? Undoubtedly 3 cents for a thousand gallons of raw water is unreasonable! But the tricky problem is that it was an AGREEMENT cemented donkey years ago. Could you break an Agreement. In the law of contract, as far as I see it, a contract is a contract is a contract! IF it could be broken at will, , then what is the pirpose of a having a contract? It is rather sad and regrettable that it is a bad contract. But, in the 1920s. even ONE cent could buy things! Even in the 1970s, a single house in Taman Midah ( Bolton Garden then ) was only $ 15,000.00! In Lucky Garden, Bangsar, a single storey house ( corner lot ) was $20,000.00 ! So, times have changed; prices have rocketed! Can you compare situations then and now ? What are the prices of houses now ? After the Japanese Occupation in the then Malaya 10 cents was a huge amount! But, as a caveat (?), neighbours like Malaysia and Singapore, could give and take, water agreement notwithstanding! But, never demand; it is bad manners, In all situations, give and take to make peace. In the Middle East, BREXIT in UK-EU, Water Agreement in Malaysia-Singapore, cut a deal! Nobody can have everything! If so, it makes nonsense of negotiation.Yes, the rule of law must always prevail.
Respect Dr. Kua for his objective article on anti-racism, the difference between Jews and Zionism. It is too simplistic to say that all Chniese are rich and all Malays are poor. There are many poor Chinese people just like there are many poor Malays. Not all Chinese sell fried mee just like not all Malays sell nasi lemak! And not all Indians sell roti canai, for that matter! To condemn all Jews is wrong . One swallow does not Summer make. You see one swallow, you should not say that Summer has arrived! Similarly, you should not assume that all British people are drunkards and sleep just above the pub! Do they ? Weak leaders use race, religion and even royalty to enhance their popularity! Racism, in any nation, not just Malaysia alone, is very bad. Respect all races. Respect all religions. Pursue your career with all your own effort; never use race and religion. Hard work pays! Use your brain which God has given you to the best of your ability.
Mr. Kua, u are not an expert of Palestinian issue. Stop this crap. U are alway so fill of crap trying to confuse the people.
